Help with Schwinn Continental Maintenance?

Last year I bought a Schwinn Continental. When I bought it, the tires were dry rotted and now my front tire has a slow leak in it. I was was wondering if I should replace the tires, or just the inner tubes. Also, I have heard that Schwinn's had a slightly different tire size when this bike was made...do I have I have to buy custom tires/inner tubes?
