Peugeot 206 alarm noise when activated?

I have a 2001 Peugeot 206 glx which has an alarm. When I set the alarm I press the lock button, then within 5 seconds I have to press the little button below it to activate the alarm, when I activate it a really high pitched annoying sound will ring once, sounds just like the alarm if your wondering. I was wondering if you can turn off the annoying noise when it gets activated, it's so annoying but i like my alarm to be on for security reasons ovbiously, many thanks
